Meet the sponsors - When at Twestival, #tweetrecycle

With great Twestivals comes great Twesponsibilities (does that work), so as the drinks flow and bands rock Oxford Twestival, why not take a moment to take those empty bottles and make sure you #tweetrecycle?
As creating bottles and jars from recycled glass uses less energy than creating glass from raw materials, here at www.frieendsofglass.co.uk we’ve been trying to encourage the great folk of Twitter to recycle their glass bottles, and share that fact with the #tweetrecycle tag, to promote recycling within the wider community.
We’ve already reached our goal of targeting 76,500 bottles between us to power the streetlights of London for 5 minutes – but we want to continue! The steps are below, and #tweetrecycle wristbands will be free and available on Sunday. So do pick one up, remind the barstaff to recycle any bottles used and share your numbers on Twitter with the #tweetrecycle tag.
1.    Go to www.twitter.com and set up a Twitter account if you haven’t already
2.    Count up the number of glass items you’ve put out for recycling
3.    Include them in your tweet and mark it #tweetrecycle
4.    Don’t forget to encourage your friends to take part too!

Tickets are still available

Remember…

So go on, grab a ticket here!:) And see you on Sunday!

Another sponsors is…Nokia’s Twestival ’09: N86 Tour!

At this very moment the first three of the N86 Tour-ists are Helsinki-bound on the first leg of the Twestival ‘09: N86 Tour. Armed with N86s, they are going to capture the journey the devices take across the world in the next 4 days, handing over to new Tour-ists at various points. From Helsinki, the devices will be travelling to Bucharest, Birmingham and Dubai (and one even takes in Brussels), before all meeting again in Oxford on Sunday.

As one person reaches a new destination, they’ll be handing over the N86, relay-style, to someone else, always creating rich video content showing the journey each device is making, and all the connections made along that journey.

When the devices make it back to the UK they’ll convene in Oxford, where some of the journeys will be shared, along with a talk through of connections made and exciting Twestivals attended.

There’ll be an N86 at each destination to be raffled off at each Twestival, and Nokia are making a per-mile-travelled donation to all the Twestivals the Tour-ists land at. In addition they are also offsetting the carbon emissions from the flights by utilising the we:offset application on each device.

There will be much more later, once they touchdown in Finland, so stay tuned.

Current Tour-ists:

Meet the artists - Ian Williams

AYM is the performance poetry moniker of Ian Williams, who, as well as running a marketing training & consultancy business, runs the Oxford sketch writing group The Guild of the Forbidden Helmet and (from time to time) performs as a stand-up comedian. Wearing his performance poetry hat, Ian was the first ever winner of Oxford’s very own Hammer & Tongue slam poetry competition and was also the first ever winner of SlamIdol, the world’s first internet-based slam. Ian is a keen Twitter, with four accounts: @ianwilliams, @jerichotraining, @jerichomarketin and @forbiddenhelmet.

I am interested in the Oxford Twestival as I am expanding my interests more and more into the Twittersphere and this seems like a great opportunity to both perform and get to know other people who are as passionate about Social Media as I am. :)
