We would like to thank you everyone who joined our event on Thursday! We had a great time! We have raised £463 - which is a great, impressive sum! You rock! (if you want to top it up to help us reach the target, we are still accepting donations on JustGiving page;)) Big hug to the venue - @Truck_Store team was brilliant in supporting us on the day! Big Thank you goes to all our sponsors and artists who donated their products (marvelous cupcakes!), services, performances and time on the night to our cause! We would like to say thank you to the Pegasus Theatre for teaming up and joining our fundraising efforts too! We are extremely grateful to all our friends who helped during the event and make it such a great experience! And of course to every single attendee - including people who donated and supported us virtually! We are also sending hugs to the team from Lyon, who called us during the night! One more personal thank you goes to @Darthberne for all his support in organising of the event! Here are our photos from the event and here are the tweets we have saved for you. Please continue tagging your posts with #oxtwestival! THANK YOU and see you next time:)
Here is our last update from the charity, from Emma Catherine:)
1. What is your role within the organisation? I am the Customer and Sales Coordinator at Pegasus. 2. What do you like the most about your work here? I work on box office for part of my time as well as in the marketing department. I love writing articles for the website and the press releases, telling people about the shows and projects we have on, designing posters and flyers and the monthly e-bulletin. My role has also enabled me to witness the buzz of the new building in all of its aspects. I meet the artists, I watch as young people rehearse their dance moves or learn their lines, and I ensure everything runs smoothly on a busy performance night! 3. If you were to suggest few activities for visitors to Peg what would those be? I would definitely recommend coming to one of the shows at Pegasus. The programme is amazing, there are loads of fabulous cutting edge performances that are put on here. I loved watching Alice in Wonderland, our family Christmas production last year, as well as the very dark animation show, The Seed Carriers. I am really looking forward to some of the shows that are coming up this season too, with an eclectic mix of dance, music, drama and film.
Here is one more blog post from our charity, from Alan Hutson!
What is your role within the organisation? I am the Dance coordinator at Pegasus theatre. What do you like the most about your work here? The whole creative vibe, the openness of the organisation, and the interaction with everyone, and I mean everyone, the young people, the parents, volunteers and of course the people who keep the organisation ticking along. However what I like most about working here is having the opportunity to revert back to my to a childhood (you know your jealous, most adults would love to be childlike at one part of the day) in creative class with the young people it’s fun, however sometimes I feel the pain the next day. If you were to suggest few activities for visitors to Peg what would those be? That is a hard one. Well I can be state the obvious and say dance because all the dance related classes are fantastic! However, in reality what is great for me may not be for someone else so I would suggest to come into Pegasus and experience it for yourself, I can honestly say that we will have something to satisfy everyone even if it is just to sit back and relax in our cafe and soak in the vibes. Can you share a story with us? So many characters coming through the doors of Pegasus (I mean some people think I’m mad not literally I may add) we are all just going through life as positively as possible.
And one more note, this time from Producer at our charity, Emily Winfield:
What is your role within the organisation? I am the producer at Pegasus working closely with the Artistic Director to programme the professional shows and companies that visit Pegasus each season. My role is to communicate with each department the needs o the companies and artists to make sure that their visit runs as smoothly as possible. I also support the Creative Learning Team. What do you like the most about your work here? I love that every day is different and that I have to juggle so many things at once. I come in to contact with some fantastic artists and get to see some fantastic shows, all in the name of research! If you were to suggest few activities for visitors to Peg what would those be? Pretty much every week there is a different show on, so something to suit everyone’s taste or even try out something new! Or try out some of our drop-in participatory workshops in dance and music! Any interesting stories or anecdotes? At Pegasus you get a wide cross section of the local community mingling with the staff, artists and performers in the foyer and cafe area! It’s a great atmosphere and reminds me every day how lucky I am to work in such a diverse area such as East Oxford.
Here is a short guest post from Yasmin Sidhwa who works for our charity.
What is your role within the organisation? I am Head of Creative Learning which means I plan all the Arts projects that young people and the community can take part in at Pegasus as well as planning the types of projects we run in schools and in the community! What do you like the most about your work here? I love working with other artists and young people developing creative ideas and seeing them become a reality! Expressing myself through theatre and feeling passionate about what we are communicating! If you were to suggest few activities for visitors to Peg what would those be? You have to see a show – you never know quite what to expect or try creating a show in a week yourself with the team of professional artists, it’s fun and you will discover how much you get out of being creative! Share few highlights with us;) I think my highlight this year was seeing a group of international young people perform work written by young people in Gaza at the United Nations assembly in New York. This was an example of how theatre can have an impact on the wider world and how it can make a difference to people’s lives!
